Wick Thomas

District 19

Representative Wick Thomas, a Democrat, proudly represents part of Jackson County (District 19) in the Missouri House of Representatives. They were elected to their first two-year term in November 2024.

Rep. Thomas is a lifelong Missourian, growing up in Drexel. They attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications, and later obtained a Master's degree in Library Sciences from Emporia State University. Most recently a Faculty Librarian for Metropolitan Community College – Kansas City, Rep. Thomas has also worked for the Kansas City Public Library as a Teen Services Librarian, and the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art as a Manager of Teen Programs, bringing a wealth of experience in education, public service, and the arts to their legislative work.

Outside of their legislative duties, Rep. Thomas regularly volunteers for nonprofits within their district, helps build and fill little free libraries, and has received recognition for their activism and leadership. They were named a "Mover and Shaker" by the Library Journal, awarded Best Activist by Pitch Magazine, and honored with the Creating Change Award from The National LGBTQ Taskforce.

Rep. Thomas is happily married to their spouse, Clay, with whom they share a small historic arts business and work on their historic home and urban homestead. Their career is marked by a deep commitment to community service, education, and social justice.
