
State Rep. Michael Johnson was first elected to represent parts of Jackson County in 2020 and currently chairs the Missouri Legislative Black Caucus.
Aside from serving as ranking member of the House committee on Transportation Accountability, Rep. Johnson was also appointed the committees on Economic Development, Insurance Policy and Utilities for the 103rd General Assembly.
Johnson an insurance agent at Johnson Hazley Agency, LLC, a firm he co-launched. Johnson previously served in the U.S. Army after attending Northeast Law and Military Magnet School, as well as Philander Smith University in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Johnson also serves on the boards for Enable KC, Impact Boys to Men, and the American Legion Wayne Miner Post 149 Board.
Johnson has three children and attends Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. Johnson’s uncle, Charles A. Hazley, was a city councilman for 20 years in Kansas City from 1971 – 91.
